Hedge Trimmer Hook

Here's a quick little hook I made to hang my electric hedge trimmers on.  It's all just made from scrap pine, and I didn't bother putitng any finish on it or anything.

To make this, I took the length of pine that forms the main rod of the hook and rounded over all four edges on the router table with a roundover bit.  I then got a forstner bit that matched the thickness of the rod and drilled a series of overlapping holes in a 2x4 block that was long enough to accept the whole rod.  I used a file to smooth the ridges that were left between the holes and create a relatively smooth mortise.  I glued the rod into the mortise, and stuck another little scrap block on the end with glue and brads to form a hook on the end of the rod so the trimmers can't fall off the end.  A simple use of some admittedly imprecise joinery, but plenty strong for this application and quick to build.
